From downtempo to tech-house, Sean Armstrong ("Sliptide") has been producing electronic based music for nearly 13 years. With several trip-hop and downtempo tracks reaching the top 3 positions on mp3.com circa 2002-2004, it's no surprise that he has continued to produce music since then. Drawing on his inspirations from natural and urban environments alike in and around Seattle, Sliptide has been hard at work.

cityshadow_icon_largeNow, nearly 4 years after the project's completion to a limited local audience, City Shadows has surfaced for a full-fledged release. This album's downtempo and chill-infused music is what helped to define Sliptide as an artist. Produced from 1999 through 2004, City Shadows aimed to capture a more subtle and chilled side of city life. It is accomplished through the organ licks, droning basslines, downtempo drums and ambient textures that mold the soundscape. Even though four years have passed, songs such as "Calm Control" "Stasis" "Holding" and "November Aura" are Sliptide classics that show City Shadows is worthy of a highly available release in digital and CD formats and is a perfect lead in to new releases from Sliptide in 2009.

Sliptide also produced a limited edition benefit album, For the Cure 2008, in which all proceeds were donated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation's 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk in Seattle. The benefit album contained a number of original Sliptide songs spanning his work on City Shadows ("Holding") and debuted new songs ("Grace" and "Talking Circles"). It was a welcomed contribution to an incredible event and generated a substantial amount of dontaions to the 3-Day Walk.

Well Of Souls (Cover)Looking forward, Sliptide has already slated two releases for 2009. A full album wrappig up production early in the year, Well of Souls will put a new spin on his sound and take the listener on a well composed ride full of gritty ambience, emotional tones, and almost story-like progression. The release after that promises to be new ground, akin to his work on "Grace", with songwriting and vocals. Expect more information about these projects as time marches on!

"At age 6 I began hammering out short songs on my Dad's guitar. At age 11 I rocked out to grunge music in a garage band. Armed with a computer and a MIDI keyboard, I began making electronic music at the age of 14. My passion has grown through the years and so has my bedroom studio. Whether I'm working on downtempo infused tracks or grinding out trance and house tunes into the wee hours of the morning, I keep my body and soul open to new sounds, ideas, and discoveries along the way. My goal as an artist is to contribute my work back to the community for all to listen to and incorporate into the soundscape of life." - Sean Armstrong ("Sliptide")
