City Shadows came out of late nights spent playing with new software and hardware instead of focusing on my studies in school.

Branching out into downtempo, drum & bass, and trip-hop influences I assembled songs that were driven by my own musical composition with sample support, instead of continuing with entirely sample driven materials.

Calm Control reached the #3 spot in the Trip-Hop and Down Tempo catagories on mp3.com (before CNET bought them, for those who remember).

The album attempts to convey my fascination with large cities and the more relaxing side opposed to the hustle & bustle of living every day in a metropolis.. I'll stop here before I ramble on.

Soon after sifting through songs I deemed appropriate for my first "release", I started a few songs that were slightly different approaches to my exploration of basic sample driven music.

This was about the time that I moved to Washington and entered a new high school. I was listening to a lot of Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, and some big beat mixes that I had collected along the way. I kept the heavy drums and crunchy feels for these tracks.

I had always intended to add more songs, but time marched on and when I became more involved in new ideas I closed this project and made it a release at the end of 2000.

This also marked the first songs I produced that mixed into eachother (Inwego into Drone Tone).

Bearing no shame, I collected some of the tracks that didn't "make the cut" so-to-speak. These are primarily from the days surrounding Ralos Flipside and are very shoddy.. though there are some interesting sounds and I believed it was worth it to at least share them with anyone who wants to listen..

..so continuing with that idea, I continue to list Odds & Ends Vol.1 on my discography today.

This album was released after a solid year (or so) of tinkering with my new found love for computer and sample based musc. Ian Farnsworth (DJ Solitude) and I bounced the simple ideas we had off of one another and had a healthy dose of learning and experiencing computer music production. Primarily using a copy of then Sonic Foundry's ACID DJ that we purchased at our local Target, this album is a journal of sorts of very early works I did from age ~15 to ~16.

Heavily sample based, very simple ideas, but some nifty sounds and listenable tracks none-the-less.
